My good friend, Jenny, Honey I’m Home has given me the chance to let you know 7 things about myself, and after unloading all my info, I was supposed to pick out 15 other blogs to likewise furnish a ‘Stylish Blog Award’ too.
Quite a headache really, BUT I happened onto Beth’s site Day BY Day (also nominated) and my thanks to you Beth, for giving me a loophole, as I agree with you wholeheartedly in saying everyone is a Stylish Blogger…How on earth could I pick 15 out of all the stylish bloggers I visit and catch up on?. Impossible, quite simply impossible… So I award everyone of you this accolade… and you can pick up the baton of sharing 7 things about yourself if you so wish …
Now for the 7 things……
-
My name ‘Pen’ (Penelope, Penny, whatever!!) is my middle name, hated by me since childhood , my first name is … not going to say..!!
But I did start up my blog with the name Lady Penelope, after happening across a YouTube video, and therefore it’s all the fault of Gerry Anderson and his Thunderbirds series… Before my time but it looked fun…
-
I always wear my Manchester United Shirt when listening or watching their games at home, (can’t afford to go to all the matches) … To my mind this is why they have such ‘winning ways.’ 😉
-
I was born in Darlington, County Durham, at my Grandparents Bungalow, a place which holds very special memories for me. Sadly when they died it was sold and I would so love to be able to afford to buy it back… Although I do wonder sometimes if without those two special people, it won’t feel the same?
- I have a ‘thing’ about recycling, I worry about the planet and what our disgusting habits of a throwaway society is going to do to it’s beauty and it’s wildlife. Have you heard about the ‘plastic garbage patch’ ?
-
I also have a ‘thing’ about milk, I worry if I don’t have enough in the house. At this precise moment I have 3 x 4ltrs in my fridge. (the plastic bottles are recyclable…) I have no idea if this phobia is some deep, dark memory from my childhood, maybe we ran out for days? Who knows how the mind works, especially mine!!
-
I wonder daily about life and it’s meaning, I have tried since I was a child to ‘Do as you would be Done By’…a saying I read in the book ‘The Water Babies’ by Charles Kingsley… I took this very literally and went about to do a daily ‘good deed’ … Beware anyone who didn’t need help ‘cos they got it anyway, with a massive smile thrown in!!
SO there you have it, feel free to join in should you want to… I feel better already… 🙂
LadyP ……..2011
PS… the font colour went haywire and wouldn’t ‘play fair’ So I managed to marble affect it…To try and make it look as if I meant to do it that way…Sorry if it affects your eyes…It’s making mine water!!
Glad to have learned so much more about you today.
Have a lovely evening

Hi Pen! 🙂
New recycling news: A Japanese guy has designed a device which converts Plastic BACK INTO OIL!!! 🙂
I saw the report on a friend’s email and posted it to everyone on my mailing list.
IF he gets the funding it COULD mean an end to Plastic Waste FOREVER!!!
I won’t be doing the seven things – my life has been pretty grim and upsetting to my friends who know me for the person I am…
Love and squishy hugs!
Prenin.

Knowing information about someone brings about closeness. Through your posts I was already beginning to form moy own conclusions about the real you. I didn’t have the details about your life, but your depth and your soul stood out. Thanks for sharing pieces of your life. As for seven things about my life, I sprinkle my life throughout my posts. Later today I’ll try to get seven new things up on my blog, or not, depending if those new things hook my memory and seven stories or poems develop.

Hi there TG,
I don’t usually like the ‘tell us about you’ emails, what are you wearing, what did you last eat..etc.. but this was different, as for one, it was from Jenny, a good friend, and for two, I had to really think about what was important to me, as a person…and try to communicate that without sounding um…twee…I suppose? I just hope I succeeded x
I’d love it if you picked up the baton?..and here’s the Award >>

It is very nice to ‘meet’ you, Pen, and get to know you a little better. Thank you for sharing. 🙂
I am keen about recycling too. We’ve reduced our trash/rubbish so much that it hardly seems worth having it picked up anymore. We recycle what we can and food scraps go in the compost. That still leaves some things, though. I don’t know if it would be possible to be completely trash-free. One of the bloggers I follow is trying to do it.

I felt I knew you anyhow Pen, and your life is not boring, I get the same feeling about mine but if you read it objectively, there are bits I think could be of interest. , and I hope you find the money to buy your g’parents house, but as you say, it may not be the same, you should never go back.
Thank you for my award, now I’m going to find some boring things to say about me. just to keep the pot boiling so to speak. [but it takes a bit of courage]

Hi Pen, This is terrific! I LOVE that you use your middle name, the one you have always disliked, as your pen name (ha!). Some of the other things we know or guess at. About your dad – you have that very special poem, but to hear you talk about the reality is also so powerful. No explanations offered but always hoped for, even after death. The heart never gives up hope. Thanks for this beautiful post — sending big hugs!
(Perhaps I will work up the nerve to participate after we return from Yellowstone – leaving next week.)

I like that name… Its not a very common name… But its nice to have a more unique name right… My names also pretty rare… N speaking of milk i am highly health conscious, so i make sure i drink two glasses of milk everyday… Don like its smell nor the taste so i usually mix something with it n then drink… Congrats again on winning the award…
