She sits, staring blindly at nothing before her
her mind a tangle, her thoughts following on
She wanders through emotions, none stay to guide her
only one which remains, the one she wished gone…
His voice had been full of such anger and hatred
accusations flung wildly with no base at all
Just giving her cause to pause, to reason
she wanted her freedom, to escape his thrall.
When two are divided by suspicion and anger
with nowhere to run, just surrender the fight
Love is a blessing but jealousy soon sours it
’til all hope is gone, leaving feelings of blight…
She begged acceptance of her thoughtful decision
which hadn’t come lightly and came at such cost
To please part as friends and not as mere solace
despite, not because of the love that they had lost…

I’ve seen too many friends go through the same thing.
It takes decades to build up trust and a moment of suspicion, not proof, to destroy them…
Love and hugs!

I try to view the Painting and place my own thoughts on the storyline which could be lurking behind it, Sir Prenin, …and I suppose the breakup of a romance is not one that’s unique…and as you say, too easy for cracks to appear when suspicion raises it’s ugly head… Take care my friend…xx

Really lovely Pen, I expect most of us can say” been there” at some time in our life. Hugs Marjie x

Thank you, Marjie, for your comment, and yes, sadly, I think this scenario could have been played out thro’ the ages, …. relationships must have always been the same…good ones, bad ones, and in betweeners!! Hugs to you my friend…xx

When trust is shaken it’s hard to cope,
If cool heads prevail, there’s still hope,
Unless the rift has torn and shredded the heart,
In that case the romance is done and all apart,
And she’ll wait patiently for the wounds to heal,
Perhaps love will return with a better deal.

Perhaps so, Dan, you never know with love and it’s sisterhood , passion and desire, you just never know when they’ll strike next…many thanks for your lovely rhymed comment, xx

I seem to be almost trying to post every other day for some reason, Andro, as the ideas are coming thick and fast…I only start to worry when I can’t think of a single thing to conjure up…JD helps to a certain extent , but imaginary ‘friends’ are no substitute for the real thing, now are they? 😉

I enjoyed your words dear friend but must admit whilst I was reading it that I reversed the role of the players in that I made it a He and he was speaking off his betrayed love , sorry couldnt help it as it hit close to home for me and could have been written from a scene once played out in my life years back, betrayal in love can never be forgiven.

NO apologies necessary, Ian, poems and storylines are there for the reader to do with as they will, see things from a differing perspective, therefore breathe new life I suppose…I’m sorry you experienced such a loss thro’ betrayal, but with your Ana by your side, I feel you have found your soul mate….xx

Many thanks for your comment Lady Jude, I tried to ‘feel’ the emotion behind the painting, and came up with a scenario, this one floated to the top and wouldn’t go away!! xx

Pen – love your words in this work.
especially love the way you have “shaped” the stanzas. use of the images between struck me as a conversation – i like how you’ve made use of this Eastern tradition.

My thanks Bex, for your comment and observation, glad you enjoyed the poem and it’s set up, I imagined a scenario between the two lovers, soon to be apart…and it came to life from there…xx

I’ve always been amazed at how two people can love each other so much,
and yet that same love can turn into the most viscous anger and hate.
I’m not referring to you Pen, I’m was just sitting here thinking after reading your very deep and meaningful words about how many couples I’ve known that end up as enemies.
I’ve been there and felt it but…I still don’t understand why.
ha-ha on a brighter note… I hope you’re having a good weekend xox

Two sides of the same emotional coin I think Gary, so much intense ‘feeling’ goes into love and hate, that the two are almost bedfellows…and once love is lost I feel nothing will repair the damage done by jealousy and hate…It seems once tasted never forgotten.
and yes, I hope your week-end is going well my friend..xx

Sob, I love a love story, but not when they are too sad, I wonder who was first to betray the trust, or whether it was just one, I bet it was ‘him’ I like the painting, Rossetti I think, he liked his tragic women.
I’m lucky never to have been in this situation.
Well scripted Pen.

Dry your tears, Arlene, (use this hankie I got from JD 😉 ) … and me too, I bet is was him!! I love the PreRaphaelite paintings…for some reason I can do a storyline with them much easier than with any other …Many thanks for thy comment and compliment my friend… xx

☆☆ Every friendship, every relationship, is bound to fall apart when you start keeping things to yourself…. including feelings, actions, motives, etc. Secrets don’t destroy things… but suspicion can as well as jealousy. The worst part about being lied to or not believed, is knowing that you weren’t worth the truth or someone believing in you. If you ask me, trust is like a piece of paper, once its crumpled, it can’t be perfect like the way it used to be. ☆☆

A good analogy Seth, the paper once crumpled can never look or feel the same, many thanks for your insightful comment on my tale of woe…xx

☆☆ Jealousy doesn’t show how much you love someone, it shows how insecure you are. HOWEVER… I have been on the other end and let me say this, a little jealousy in a relationship is good. Sometimes it is good to know that someone is afraid of losing you. Too much jealousy? Suffocating. ☆☆

Very true too, Seth, the spicing up of a flagging relationship can be helped to revive I suppose, but jealousy is I believe, a two edged sword to be used rarely…if I ever felt jealous I would think deep down there was some truth in my insecurity and look for a problem… Many thanks for your two comments, very much appreciated my friend…xx
