I
sit,
I ponder,
I think,
I wonder
the mind it wanders
here and there,
there is no telling
the answers I’m getting
for If I had any,
I wouldst share.
If nothing be thought
would nothing be seen?
would reality blur
as if ‘twas a dream?
Should I share my thoughts,
be they quite few
would that answer the query
or not
think you?
As
I sit,
I ponder,
I think
and I wonder
forever searching
and trying to find,
the simple meaning of life
and it’s splendour
are we real or perhaps
a thought in someone else’s mind?

I think of you and your poetry so to me – you exist. My worlds brighter because of it as well.

Thought provoking but don’t go too far down that road of thought though Pen, it’ll drive you crazy

My thanks for your comment and Rene Descartes quote Trevor, … and yes, a self proclaiming philosophy… I am here thinking, therefore I exist, … I think, but where do my thoughts come from? The soul or a maybe there’s a think tank somewhere that we humans tap into? Now there’s a thought, ‘cos is there original thought? …um..I think I’ll stop there,…… 😀 …x

I’m just glad you enjoyed the unwrapped package, Monica, set out for your delectation… 😀 … Just checked the ‘I think therefore I am’ quotation and apparently it’s the mere questioning of ones existence which proves one does exist… not the suggestion of mere thought… which is what I thought it meant previously… *cough* um…I need another cup of coffee!! Many thanks for your lovely comment my friend…xx

Pen, I much prefer your thinking to that of Descartes. I think I’ll post a poem I wrote about him. See what you think.

Nice and thoughtful, Pen. When my mind wanders in that direction it goes for miles and miles. If you’re a thought in my mind, well, I have some really good thoughts at times!

I know, Sir Aquatom, one can sit and think and think and….where does it all lead? Questioning, but if you cannot find the answer does it then become a personal quest? … and if you’re a thought in my mind too do we cancel each other out? (besides being a good thought in my mind too of course, goes without saying…really does!!) . I think another coffee is called for!! xx

Just existing in the daylight,
Filling with thoughts the night,
Only when someone believes in me,
Do my thoughts take flight.
Deep thoughts can’t get as high,
As simple thoughts can fly,
They keep my feet on the ground,
Until night comes soaring by.

your mind is such a wonderful place, Pen, i love reading your thoughts and am always amazed by the amount of insight you are able to express in such few words.
if you don’t mind – i don’t think it matters whether we are “real” or thoughts in someone else’s mind, there is probably not much that would change about we live our lives or the things we think or feel or do. we are still who we are.

Very true, Bex, it matters not a jot in the full scheme of things, but we still as humans want to know and think and question, even thought we might not like the answers…and MY mind is always questioning or thinking up scenarios, even when I;m asleep my brain fires awkward situation’s at me… trying to catch me unawares methinks…. ;-).. Loved your comment my friend, and yes we are still who we are… so many thanks for being you…xx

Ah, great poem! You’ve turned me into a very philosophical tortoise, rummaging about in the pile of leaves that someone has very thoughtfully, laid out in their back garden. Loved the read!

so, Kolembo, you’re a philosophical tortoise, now how long have you had this thought? Only since you read my rhyme? but there must have been a deep buried thought previously for it to have re-surfaced…maybe you wish you were a philosophical tortoise thinking on the possibility that you exist maybe as a human? and the leaves in the back garden now what could they represent… hmm, one must think long and hard about this one…. 😉
Many thanks for your comment, my friend, and glad you enjoyed the questioning rhyme… xx

Yes, Andro certainly knows how to make us chuckle! 🙂
The good news is Lillian told me where to go get Weight Watchers frozen meals and told me they are £1 each which is a bonus!!!
I CAN cook, but cooking for one means the risk of wasting good food gone bad, so individual portions work out cheaper.
I am constantly hungry anyway because of the meds, so I’ll be no worse off than I am at the moment.
Thanks for the kind words – it truly is nice to get such lovely comments! (Blush!)
Love and squishy hugs hun – sorry you didn’t win!!!

Yes perhaps we are being viewed in…. a time loop shall we say? Where we all live out a given lifetime observed by an inventor, it probably only lasts for a day in that world, maybe even an hour before we are catapulted into yet another scenario… Well you never know? lol A great poem Lady Pen…

and what a scenario you have described, Andro, maybe we are at the mercy of a time loop, as you’ve described, and when we ‘pass’ through the veil we continue with no memory of the previous episodes maybe? … (much as I’d like to feel when sometimes viewing never ending soap operas!!! 😉 ) … Many thanks for your comment my friend from the Gothic realms…xx

Hi Pen! 🙂
I had a really bad night last night and now I have a cough to go with the cold.
Something warm and alcoholic sounds good, but I can’t afford it this fortnight as I had some odds and sods I had to pick up and that used up my spare cash.
Good job I keep medicines handy!!! 🙂
Hopefully this should be done by Monday, but if not I’ll have to go shopping Thursday or Friday – it depends on what food and cash is left!
Right now I feel like I could sleep for a week…
Love and hugs!

Hi Pen! 🙂
Gaddafi Duck can be driven out quickly if the UN intervenes, both the rebels and pro-Gaddafi Militias are equipped with geriatric weapons and tanks, so that’s why there has been no decisive battle and the Army was deliberately run down by Gaddafi because they are how HE got into power!!!
We’re so used to state-of-the-art Western weaponry that the thought of a battle being fought using heritage gear is confusing, but so far the rebels have held on while pro-Gaddafi forces seem reluctant to press home the attack.
Gaddafi may be willing to fight to the last man and woman, but right now it looks like his soldiers are less than willing to die for their great leader…
The cold, as mentioned earlier, is a tad horrible and will take a few days to clear, but last night was the worst so far.
What worries me is that I’m now developing a dry cough and I’m short of cough medicine, so tomorrow I’ll go get some from the Co-Op.
If I don’t feel like it though I’ll go Monday…
Love and squishy hugs!
Prenin.

lets hope the soldiers turn on their leader pretty damn quick and end this fiasco once and for all…They’ve been keeping him in control, and surely they must see ‘what’ he is?..
and I hope the bad night last night was the breaking of the cold and better days are ahead..xx

Love gives meaning to our lives, as do friendship, or art or faith in God or spirituality. These are factors of true happiness, of inner peace, of feelings of harmony, allowing meaning to our existence. I don’t believe that there is just one simple meaning to life but many… and they may be different to each one of us.
Beautifully written Pen.

I think it’s up to you/me to decide what you/me want to make your/my purpose in life. If you have something in particular you want to do in life that can be it. Find something you like or think is important and give your existance meaning by working towards that.
I like to think of life like fire. Fire has no purpose… needs no purpose. It just burns. Life is this.
