Hide and Seek…

Death gif

If I should pop my clogs real soon
I’d not be ready to face my doom
I’d be quite angry and I think I’d say
”I’ve too much to do, so please go away..”
hide and seek

If Death should answer “It’s your time
I’ve come for you,  just toe the line”
I think I’d make my point quite clear
by making a run for it, just disappear!!
 hide and seek
Being chased by Death would spur me on,
I could run like the clappers and be gone
trying to hide where Death could not seek
make him count a million before he could peek…

  1. A rather witty way at looking at death… No one would ever like to stare death in the face, But from the day we are born that is sure one thing that will happen to us all eventually DEATH….
Enjoy your time on the planet Lady P

    • Yup Lady Jude, always the only true certainty in this life, Death is there waiting. I am trying to enjoy day by day everything I have, everything I could want and everything I could hope for, and they all seem to combine into a little black and white doggie who has been my companion for the past 13 nearly 14 years. It’s going to hit hard, and I have no idea how I will respond to Death calling. Many thanks for your comment my friend…xx

    • Me too, Michiko San, hide and seek seems the best option to me. why make it easy for the black hooded one? Yes, I cooked the kidneys and she ate them after a better cook took over, (my ex) she then wolfed them down. So at least her appetite is still there. many thanks for your comments and your thoughts my friend, always appreciated…xx

  3. I’m sure you’ll be able to outwit and outrun Death if ever it chased you down! But lets not think of that for now, eh? That non-friend of ours will (hopefully) not be hunting us down for a while! Fingers crossed 😉 I’m glad to hear that Bess is feeling better again and you are feeling more relaxed Pen because you deserve all the good! Thank you for gracing us with your beautiful work again. Welcome back, friend!

    • my thanks Andini, Bess is eating, but I think her appetite comes from the taking of the steroids and when she comes off them this week-end I’m not looking forward to a loss of appetite. I hope to goodness she is recovering, now and again I just sit and check that she’s still breathing, which I suppose says more about my state of mind than how she is. many thanks for your lovely comment and compliment, xx

  4. Hi Pen, Love the poem and comments! No RSVP needed, indeed, and what a beautiful dream. This Death looks a little more serious than the last one, with underwear showing. BTW, did you know that Mike Keefe has won the Pulitzer Prize for editorial cartooning? This is a very great honor for an American. Here’s the link, and you can follow it to see the 20 cartoons he submitted for consideration: http://www.denverpost.com/breakingnews/ci_17874449

    • Hello there Monica, glad you enjoyed my playing about hide and seek wise with the Dark One, Maybe I’ll go with a joke on my lips … and die laughing? 😉 .. I do hope so.. I’ve just followed your links and whilst I didn’t die, I was certainly laughing at Mike Keefe’s cartoons., a worthy winner I’d say cutting straight to the point. Thanks so much for your best wishes my friend, always, always appreciated..xx

  5. Hi Pen! 🙂

Yes, it’s amazing what will be eaten if it’s cooked long enough! 🙂

DON’T give Bess chicken bones – they splinter and do nasty things to her insides!!!

The Cesar dog foods are good, but expensive – I hope Bess appreciates all the trouble you are going to! 🙂

To be honest I haven’t touched Lamb anything in 35 years – having served my time on a farm Beef is about my limit! 🙂

    Love and hugs sweety!!!

    Prenin.

    • I never ever give Bess bones Sir Prenin, nor sticks to play with, dangerous both things to the mouth and insides. Cesar is certainly expensive, but as a last resort to get her appetite back I’d try anything. Thankfully she’s eating Minced Beef and I mix bran for her dietary fibre needs. So far so good, my friend. Hugs to you xx

    • Thanks Bex, mayhap I should play dice with Death instead of hide and seek? BUT I have never been lucky with games, so maybe being one step ahead would suffice? … Glad you enjoyed my playing with the darkest of all one. xx

    • Hi Sheila, shall we run like the clappers together? 😉 … and yup, for now she’s taking her four small meals a day like a good-un, slightly shaky start at first but when I pretend to try and eat her food she pushes me away, so if I want it , it must be good….Psychology for dogs? or mayhap I’m quite, quite mad… (I’m rapidly losing my appetite as she’s slightly regaining hers… Hugs to you both from me and Her maj.xx

  13. As much as I like to play naughty games, this game of hide-and-seek, I think I’ll pass. I would much rather play knock-knock on deaths door and run like hell. I was always much better at playing knock-knock-ginger than I was at hide-and-seek. Come to think of it, I don’t think that I’ll play knock-knock-ginger either… I don’t think that Death would be as forgiving as our neighbors.
    What a great poem Pen.
