I don’t worship money
but I’d like to have more
to just ease the worry
when the bills hit the floor,
to just pay my way
not robbing Peter to pay Paul
no, I don’t worship money
I’d just like more, …. that’s all

and i really find it annoying when people present their philosophies of money is not life etc etc duh! those ones are the first ones to love the crisp notes, atleast I dont conceal my desires in superficial curtains

and me neither, Habiba, I don’t believe anyone would turn away money if they were offered or won it in some way. Even if they didn’t need it themselves there are plenty of worthwhile charities out there who would bite your hand off for a donation. xx

nice piece Pen – as always the humour neatly balances a more serious issue.
i always think, yes, money doesn’t buy happiness, but it sure give a person options.

Thanks Bex,. and yes, it certainly does that, opens up all kinds of options that wouldn’t be there automatically. Money can oil the wheels, turn the cogs, switch things on and help you reach your destination, it’s you who’s in the driving seat. xx

When you find the crock of gold, don’t forget your friends 😉
I’d love a bit extra too but I can get by with what I have and more importantly, I’m happy (most of the time)

Oh I won’t forget, Trevor, 😀 and that bit extra is always welcome, doesn’t bring you happiness, but keeps things ticking over nicely. Glad you enjoyed my ode to the ‘filthy lucre’ xx

Too true, Lady Jude, everyone could do with that bit extra, as my mum used to say, ‘just to tide me over’ , 😀 xx

This was succint & BRILLIANT! & I can so relate! I was made redundant 7 months ago, & have only just found another job. Which I’m enjoying, & I’m truly grateful to have found it, but it’s £7,500 per annum less than what I made before, so I’m battling with Peter & Paul…..

If only Peter and Paul didn’t need paying, Kate, wouldn’t that be oh so great? 😀 , .. I hope your new job starts to pay a better salary too, my friend. xx

This was wonderfully written, I can relate. Money isn’t everything but it does certainly make the world go around and it makes life a little more comfortable. I too wish that at the end of the day, I had a little more $$$ to do more things that I would like to do. There’s no amount of money that can buy complete happiness, peace of mind or good health. Wealth isnt a necessity to be happy… I just want to be debt free, be able to support my family, and be able to have those little extras. Not too much more, and hopefully not too much less.
They say money can’t buy happiness but hey let me try first before I come to that conclusion…. 🙂

Thanks Seth, glad you enjoyed my tribute to the ever elusive money problem, (it keeps vanishing. )… and I would too, like to try out the premise that money can’t buy happiness, just as an experiment of course, not to feather my own nest… 😉 … xx

Can certainly relate to needing more money. Question is – where does it all go too? It seems to slip through my fingers xx

“no, I don’t worship money , I’d just like more, …. that’s all” – clever, Pen 🙂 – I once sent my dad a birthday card which had a man standing in front of this big tree full of money leaves, with the caption – “Oh, no – now what do I tell the children!” because he always used to run that old “Money doesn’t grow on trees, you know” line on us – were it that it did, Pen!

Oh MJ, I felt so sorry for ManU, they were so outclassed, it was a tragedy. Good job I wasn’t playing against Barcelona, ‘cos not being able to get sight of the ball would have made my temper shoot sky high, I’d have probably been shown a red card in the opening 10 minutes!! Best team definitely won, but didn’t stop me hoping during the match when Wayne got the equalizer, but 1-3 to Barcelona wasn’t a true reflection on the game, Barcelona could’ve scored two or three more goals at least.
I feel that money is a tool, which I would definitely love to get to grips with. 🙂 xx
