Shadowy Thought…

 sinister shadowIf
Death be a
constant shadow to
follow you from day one
since the first day of your life
’ til the last when your time is done.
Then surely best live in the knowledge
that each day is a gift not a chore, when
you close your eyes this night be thankful
for one day more.
Yes,  If  Death be a constant
shadow to follow you from day one, ‘twould be
better
to live in full sunlight, standing tall,
with all dark shadows gone….

  2. Great poem, Pen. It touches on something deeper, which is the whole thing of why, apart from our natural instinct to avoid it, we view it in such a negative light

    • Why thank you bb, I do ponder about the mysteries of the afterlife, should we believe, should we not, and Death is a constant,… always there waiting, but is he a doorway perhaps? … I do like to think so,….and live in hope… xx

  3. Hi Pen
I try to remind myself that each day is a beautiful gift,
but all too often I fall back into a rut and forget that.
    I’ll try harder !

As always.. beautiful thoughts Pen x

    • Me too, Gary, me too I’m afraid, in fact I think we’re all guilty of forgetting that this life is our one chance… (unless you believe in reincarnation) of getting it right, of finding that something inside us to spur us on to achieve our goal. (sounds like a football commentary …sorry!! 😉 ) … Pleased you enjoyed my ponder, and have a good week-end my friend. xx

  4. Dear Pen, I love the whole package – thoughtful, beautiful, emotions pushing and pulling. I don’t think we would want to live forever – we’d get too tired and weak. Can we go after a full visit with a special loved one close by to ease the way?

    • Hi Monica, glad you liked the pondering, and I agree wholeheartedly, I for one would hate to be immortal, even should you be healthy, to have no end you’d surely not treasure the life you live, you’d squander time like grains o sand, letting it fall through your fingers, for how could you fill all those endless stretch of days in front of you? Life to me seems as a gift, to be opened and used whichever way you like, only there’s a time limit attached… xx

      • Hi Pen, Do love to share in your pondering. I also have the feeling that death is a portal… Transitions are difficult, but aren’t we really just energy, waves, patterns, to rearrange in a different way?

        • sounds a good enough description to me Monica. of our souls , our inner being going back from whence it came. … Not that I’m in a hurry to find out mind you…Just you wonder sometimes…(in fact I think I was born wondering!!) xx

  6. Love this, like all your thoughts … you know that, my friend. Thanks for sharing your gift with the rest of us … I know it mkaes a huge difference in MY life. Ever since Jenny died, life is a chore for me, I have to admit. Nobody here knows about that, as I come across as this bubbly, happy and oh so understanding human being … it has been 26 of grieving for my baby … and I will continue to do so, as it is my right, I feel. My soul speaks through my blog only as I have to appear strong in my daily life and work (I’m a psych nurse, of all things, if you can imagine). Thanks for being my friend and mentor in a certain way, Lady Pen. Purrrs and heavenly woofs, cat.

    • Thank you Cat, for sharing your pain and heartache. My sister in law lost her baby of 3 months to cot death, Gareth was a lovely baby, and such a young death does cast you into the pit of despair, forever asking why?… Why to such a tender little life? Hugs to you my lovely friend. and I count myself lucky to have your friendship and to share our ideas on life via the internet, I feel grief has no time limit attached, it becomes as much a part of us as living and breathing. Purrs and heavenly woofs to you…Cat..

I think Dave was his pickup, not me! 🙂

Torchwood WAS very dark – when they decapitated the kentucky deep fried living corpse and his blue eyes opened – YEEESH!!!

I’m a bit bothered by the Americans taking over a series I treasured – I’m in love with Gwen and her family – but that’s where the money is I’m afraid…

It bucketed down this morning and we’ve had a bit of sun here, but that’s gone and we’re back under cloud.

More of your typical British Summer!!! LoL!!!

You have a great weekend too hun – Love Ya!!!
