Memories at Play…

Little Beck..
There’s a Beck I used to play in when I was a child
with my brother and sister, we three ran wild
splashing, laughing and shrieking in play
I remember that Beck to this day.
We never felt in any danger,
we never felt any threat
each day we would
wander with
friends
we met.
Halcyon days, recalled with a smile,
I want to go back there,  just to paddle for a while….

  1. What a lovely memory Pen.
Had me thinking back to halcyon days of streams – days when children were allowed to go on adventures and take risks.

    • pleased you enjoyed the recalled memory Mike, we never knew how lucky we were, free to roam and have adventures… mind you, we all have battle scars, and it’s a wonder my poor Mother wasn’t run ragged by our antics. Such fun !! 🙂 xx

  2. Oh those sweet days of childhood…you take me back there with you dear Lady Pen. Surely there must be some magic spell to find our way even for only a summers day.
One of my favorite quotes from Lewis Carroll:
“Child of the pure, unclouded brow And dreaming eyes of wonder! Though time be fleet and I and thou Are half a life asunder, Thy loving smile will surely hail The love-gift of a fairy tale”

    • Wonderful words there Raven, and fairy tales are such a joy … to revisit even when older in years, as the child is still held within. … Memories are always there too, kept safe and to be revisited, with a smile and a sigh at the wonders of childhood innocence and play… xx
