There’s a very special magic hat,
it’s invisible you see….. it’s only seen by clever folk …
(that’s you and me)
If you place it on your head,
you can wish for anything
trouble is, it reads your mind,
so mayhem it may bring.
You could wish for Peace on Earth,
as a final ending to war
but it could grant Total Silence…
to last for evermore.
No birds will sing, no voice will ring,
nothing at all to hear
So control your thoughtful mind
and make your wish
very,
very
clear….….
it’s invisible you see….. it’s only seen by clever folk …
(that’s you and me)
If you place it on your head,
you can wish for anything
trouble is, it reads your mind,
so mayhem it may bring.
You could wish for Peace on Earth,
as a final ending to war
but it could grant Total Silence…
to last for evermore.
No birds will sing, no voice will ring,
nothing at all to hear
So control your thoughtful mind
and make your wish
very,
very
clear….….

Repost…….
Love the way you write your poems, Pen 🙂
Here’s the thing about making a wish, I always believe that whatever we do, say or sometimes even think, can affect those around you and even those far away from you..I think there is something people say, about the flapping of a butterfly’s wings causing a hurricane some where? We are all linked, in one way or the other..and to wish for something, oh you are so right..it has to be thought of so, so carefully

MY thanks Shree, glad you enjoy them. and I agree … wishes are oh so dangerous and should come with a warning, ‘HANDLE WITH CARE’ … xx

Yes, Pen, be careful what you wish for… be careful what you think. The good thing about having wishes granted is, obviously, we get what we think we want. The thing is, what we think we want may not be what is best for us. End the wish with ‘or something better for the good of all…’, and then know that what has been requested may be received but with all good intentions. I’m always wishing for things, but I don’t think I want a magic hat to help me to get them… the Universe is enough for me!
I enjoyed your thought provoking poem, Lady P, and being very clear is the key!

True enough Sir Aquatom, but on second thoughts, thinking about any wish or ‘asking’ the Universe, if we follow it through we could be getting in deeper than we bargained for… Keep it simple I suppose.. glad you enjoyed the pondering on this one … xx

With so many comments, perhaps someone else mentioned this, but it reminded me of an old horror movie called “Wishmaster” in which people always got their wishes, but not how they expected. I always thought the literal nature of the wishes, and how they became horrors, were very interestingly philosophical. Your hat is a dangerous toy. I think I shall stray from wishes for now in favor of sanity. My mind is certainly not the one to trust with a hat like that 😉

Neither is mine methinks VW, ’tis a dangerous hat, I know, but temptation overcomes the hardiest soul… I wonder if I could destroy it before it causes mayhem?… or mayhap it’s protected against such a ploy.., xx
