I touch your hand,.
you move it away,
‘tis a Deadly Dance
of emotional decay.
As I step forward
you step back
almost strangers now
for want of the lack.
Words ignored
echo a silent scream
building a barricade
to end the dream.
Tho’ you loved me once
as I loved in return
this Dance has ended,
are the Steps hard to un-learn?…

Life and love is just like a dance. That’s a sad dance though..when someone moves away. Can we unlearn the steps ..I don’t think we can or do, not fully though..because that dance was a part of our life, and it will weave into it, and leave a part of its imprint in us. I feel the trick is to use those steps to make our next dance even more special…(hmmm..better stop rambling :P)

WE learn Shree, and I suppose no amount of wishing will enable us to unlearn the steps… just be careful where we place our feet and hands … (um. that sounds very odd now I’ve typed it… but I hope you get my meaning … 😉 ) … You can ramble any time,….even though you weren’t in this instance.. Happy dancing Shree. xx

It’s like the female spiders who weave a dance round their partners before mating, then gobble them up, too late for the poot males to unlearn the steps, unfortunately, loved it. from a tired Arlene and two tired damp dogs X

Wow, Arlene, you given me a completely different outlook on this poem now… and I can see what you mean, … poor male spider and his Black Widow… in the throes of ecstasy to have your head bitten off…Not something you’d recover from eh?… so I suppose we have it lucky… 😉
Hope you and the two four-legged friends are able to have a recuperating, relaxation time….. Hugs to thee and thine. from me.. xx

It’s hard to unlearn the steps, very hard if someone doesn’t want to stop dancing. A wonderful poem with so much meaning in and around the words.

True Nikki, to be out of sync creates as many problems as the dance just ending.. Glad you enjoyed this one my friend. xx

I read your dear comment on the blog yesterday when I exclaimed about the cat’s love for me (and I for her despite all we go through together).
Your comment affected me as I understand as do you, how it is to love your fur companion AND to be loved by them in return. When all they know is love and kindness, that is what they reflect back to you. It does not matter what animal it is. I have seen a demonstration of sweetness by a horse just recently who laid his head across his mom’s chest as she stood there. It was so obvious that was an embrace. He is much loved as are all of her animals.
You loved your sweet girl..she knew that and she loved you as well. You two were a bonded team. One day, you’ll meet again. She’ll be waiting just as my babies are waiting for me. Ex Calibur, Tom, Robin, Hopping John, Smokey, Blackie. Then, Jack, BoBo, and Brownie (three dearest dogs) The sweetest day will be to pet and embrace them once again by and by.

ah Carole, hugs to you and Miss Catt, and I know I shall see My Girl again, but until then it’s pain when I think of her, pain at the distance between us… It will fade over the years I know.. but the feeling of loss will always be there… Many thanks for your lovely and compassionate comment, ever so much appreciated at this, your painful time coping with the trauma of illness, where we’re left feeling so helpless and wanting to shoulder all the hurt… hugs to you both… xPenx

I love this one. You have captured the stacatto stutter of a love turned sour. I like to think that we only lose this one dance and not the steps. The steps we savor. …but for awhile? (we like to forget) Good one, Pen!

I would like to think that too Leslie, that the failing at one dance with one partner, where the rhythm was ‘off’ means that we can still dance on… regardless… Many thanks for your thoughtful comment, and glad you enjoyed this one my friend.. xx

It is sad how the dance loses it’s beat, then steps are no longer in rythm.
May you find one to dance with a new lovely melody with…a dance of joy:D
Thinking of you and hoping you are well…miss you my sweet friend.
