A Comet’s Tale…

moonlit_scary_night
The moonlit grove
withheld
all breath,
as the
fallen figure
prepared for death.
Ancient eyes pleaded
the night sky to relent
’til as prophecy foretold
his comet began it’s ascent.
The Ancient One smiled,
as with a final surge
he let go life,  evaded death,
… his soul flying high to merge…

    • I thought so too, Andini, I picked it after I’d completed the poem, and it was ‘the’ one… Just the right amount of ‘scary’ type of thing… thank you for reading my Comet tale and pleased you enjoyed it.. xPenx

  4. Very nice Pen… are you aware that we have a comet passing us right now that will soon be visible with the naked eye? I’m looking forward to seeing it!

    • I wasn’t aware ’til I went searching for links for the Comet Photo, Sir Aquatom..then all manner of headlines told me… It was just a happy coincidence. Or, mayhap my mind was linked with the event?.. and the poem came from a deep subconscious place, … then again. maybe not… 😉

    • thank you Robin, it needed a bit of work ’til I could get just the right ‘feel’ to it… It’s strange how just one word here or there can change the whole character of a poem… ‘n Magic as a description I like… twofold too… 🙂

  7. I love this – we are made from materials that come from the skies and to that we return

    • It’s long been a dream of mine, bb, … (well, not yet… but at the appropriate time far hence)… that to the heavens we fly, as you say, becoming as one with the materials that bore us… xx

    • My thanks, Sir Prenin, pleased you enjoyed the read, and yes, after the poem was a done deal, I searched for a link to Comet info via the photo, and was bombarded with news about the event. Sadly our area was covered by cloud, but the mere thought was exciting… Luv n’ hugs my friend. xPenx

  12. I just read a poem on Sage Doyle’s blog about someone so wounded that they are unable to trust….even themselves…..to come to your blog post of hope. That no matter what…even if we lay “dying”…..that the Ancient wisdom and light within us all…we are the light and we will ascend and we will see that which is beautiful and that we can do that right now…enclosed in our human frailty 🙂
This is the link to the poem if you want to read it : http://sagedoyle.wordpress.com/2013/03/09/coaxed/

    • I tried the link Shree, and Wow, it was a dark one, but then that’s the trouble with relationships, you never really know what’s going to happen, trust is given blindly, without constraint and can be taken and twisted, so it’s difficult to put yourself in that vulnerable position again… It passes tho’ … or so I assume 😉 … Just good to know I lifted your mood my friend. … xPenx

      • Yes it was a dark one…I felt like running and hugging the person close and to tell him / her that it will be ok. And yes, your poem helped bring the light into the dark 🙂

        • I’ve just left a comment on the site, Shree, it’s always difficult to know if the person is telling a personal tale or just imagining what it would be like… Sometimes with me it’s just imagination, as with this poem, and others I draw from my own experience… That’s when the reader is just left wondering I suppose…xx

          • So true. I remember the time when I was in my dark place and I used to write some pretty dark stuff….it was just the way I felt during the time…it was imagination but at the same time not.
Sage’s poems are not all dark though 🙂 but they do have this ability to make me ponder quite a bit! hehehe. I’m going to take a peek at your comment! *hugs* and a wonderful Sunday evening to you 🙂

  15. I love the way poetry can be so informatively ambiguous:

    “The moonlit grove
    withheld
    all breath…”

Is the grove not breathing—can no one in the grove breathe?

    Both??

    🙂
