A
penny
in your pocket,
isn’t worth much I know
but added to another one
it’s value will doubly grow.
Interest rates are criminal
giving Bankers cause to smile
but with a penny
from my pocket
I can dream for a little while…

Hi there Sheila, (and li’l Lucy 🙂 ) … the snow is melting, slowly, but the winds are freezing still… and yes, from the modest penny pounds can grow and grow, and thankfully it’s still in currency at the mo… I wonder when they’ll decide to get rid?… I for one think if they do prices will rise in response, adding more to our day to day bill increases… Staying safe and warm my friend… hugs to both of you… xPenx

This one is so sweet, Lady Pen, and the little pig getting fattened up with pennies is quite adorable, and adds the perfect touch to you poem.
These days saving our coins is about all the interest we can seem to earn…such a shame.
Sending you love and hugs, and a few coins for the piggy bank…xxx

He is cute, Isn’t he Deb, took me a while to find the right one…but he fits the ‘bill’ perfectly… They want us to save and also want us to spend to get the economy growing, tsk… how on earth can we accomplish that when everyone’s so worried about the future?… I checked the interest rate on an online savings account.. 0.01% Sheesh!! Pennies indeed. … Warmest of hugs lovely friend… xx

Better in our pockets than those greedy bankers, says I, Lady Pen! I’m saving two pound coins at the moment, and I must say that I don’t mind adding another one to one of them! 😀
And it’s also nice to dream. Nice poem, P! 😀

So true. A penny a day will prove useful one day. In today’s economy, it’s save, save , save. i agree, banks can be evil especially credit card lenders and mortgage company.

The difference between interest charged and interest gained through savings is so, so criminal, Traveler… Those evil bankers have a long, long way to go before we ever trust them again… So many lives ruined through their greed, and still they want their bonuses… Cry havoc and have at thee varlets!! … xx

The penny was eliminated just a while ago here in Canada … don’t really care why the boys in the government decided on that … as long as they don’t order my son to go to war … If that would happen, this purring cat would turn into a screaming hyena … Love you, Lady Pen … so glad you are back … purrs and woofs, cat.

We here in the U.S. don’t circulate pennies anymore, either. They look and feel so pleasing but are too expensive to produce, I guess. Humpf! Love your pig!

Smile. I still keep a piggy bank, Pen. It may be a year or so, but it always has dollars in it when I take it to the bank and they dump it through that coin machine and I depoosit the dollars it has made. Good poem.

Saving every cent matters when at the end they add up!! There has been talk of doing away with pennies in the US but people were richly upset. Many are saving them!
