Peta Pen…

Peta PenI jumped the
age barrier,
“I did it”
I thought,
but my trailing
foot was caught.
I could see years
behind me, even
more up front, in fact
years lined up
from naught.
’Twas a terrible sight,
so many years gone,
Made me really
wonder, what
I’d actually
done?

What do you want to be when you grow up?” was a question I hated as a child… I didn’t know then  (I would stare at the questioner, hard…) and I don’t know now… I’ve not grown up you understand, in fact  never will this girl be grown up… a virtual Peta Pen … “Second star to the right, and straight on ’till morning.” … I refuse to age, I will put my foot down ‘n if I must be carried along by the years I’ll be kicking ‘n screaming ‘til I’m heard and taken notice of… NO more ageing, ‘tis the height of being ageist and I won’t stand for it… This year by year of being labelled, asked ‘your age please’ on forms, by anyone of a grown up nature. Surely you don’t need to ask, I’m so many years YOUNG for goodness sake… and I shall die young… That’s my story and I’m sticking to it… So there!!

  1. Hello miss Pen,
l’âge n’a pas d’importance, c’est que nous en faisons et comment qui nous fait prendre le poid des années en pleine face de soi ou non…

  6. I definitely see you flying to the stars, Pen. But Peter didn’t want to grow up and face the challenges of commitment, and so forth. Poor Wendy, left to yearn by herself. Oh well, we just can’t be perfect.

  7. i’ll be kicking and screaming right behind you Pen lol. I have refused to even utter my age since I turned 29, I figure if its out of my thoughts long enough then I wont fall into that way of thinking I have to act a certain way to fall in line with the age, you know what I mean?…”women over 40 can’t have long hair, women over 50 can’t wear a dress above the knee…it goes on and on and on, much more serious issues than those I mentioned too. The stereo types and prejudices against woman based soley on her age is outrageous.
On the bright side women have come a long way, many look younger and better much much longer than previous generations, these days 50 can pass for 30, while a few years ago women in their 30’s looked 50!
Just remember these 3 most important words…moisturize moisturize moisturize!

    • so many rules for ‘grown ups’ Nikki,. when only one need apply, just be yourself. You’re so right too, ageism is constantly a factor against women and many men too, as if you reach a certain age you’re ready for the scrap heap, when the complete opposite should apply. I moisturise every day, I’ve always believed that you don’t need to help those wrinkles, just keep them at bay!! 😉 xxx
