Inside Out..

Are you
overcome by sadness
when there’s no real reason why
sometimes the tears start falling,
nothing happened to make you cry.
Somewhere deep down inside
as if a switch clicks off then on,
the emotional time passes away
sadness and tears, both are gone
maybe dark thoughts had taken hold
without you ever knowing why,
now
fading,
a distant memory,
you smile, you continue..
and yet you sigh.

‘tis an old one, but one which still pulls, for the feelings return and ebb like the tides, forever in the thrall of the Moon…

  1. I do sometimes, LadyP, some emotions just sweep over you, man or woman, they can take a hold when you least expect it. Then they disappear and life goes on. Your description fits like a glove. x

  5. How does one click “like” on a poem of sadness? I suppose it is those moments where I am truly humbled and realise that, along with the joy, there are moments we are stopped in our tracks by moments of the opposite. Our bodies store and restore. I don’t particularly enjoy those moments of sadness but do feel cleansed by the tears I’ve shed, like a washing of the soul. It passes, just as you say. Good poem, Pen.

    • I so agree with your words, Leslie, tears wash away the sadness, cleanse the inner being and restore us to the person we truly are… Sadness cannot hold us, it just reminds us that there are such times when we need the release … many thanks for your thoughtful comment my friend… and glad you enjoyed this poem… xx

  17. Hi
Pen, sorry I haven’t been by for a while, I just don’t don’t feel I have the commitment to blogging lately, though I give a glance to other’s blogs occasionally, but when I saw this I decided it struck a cord, since I lost Tango there aren’t many days when I haven’t cried, a light went out somewhere inside me, Ruby is such a sweet little lady, but bless her, she just doesn’t have the character, no dog ever will. So I’ve been jogging along with the undemanding kight-heartedness of Face book, and I do get feedback, something that was in short supply from my blogs, stupidly I know, but it hurt and I can do without rejection. Oh dear I think I’d better stop as this is turning into a right pity me sob story, Keepup the good work Pen, I’m watching :-)X

    • I know how you feel, Tango wise, Arlene, and as I type this tears are starting… never a day passes that I don’t think of Bess, and how she filled my days … So, special they are…that nothing can come near them and how they made us love them in response to their trust in us… I can understand too, about Facebook, as you say, the instant and lighthearted approach works, I just never felt ‘at home’ there as I do on WordPress, typing and sharing my little poems…
There is one thing I always meant to mention, your page link on WordPress, I don’t know if anyone mentioned it, and maybe it explains less visits… If you click on it yourself on your comment you’ll see what I mean,… mayhap opening another blog on here would iron out the problem? Otherwise if you’re settled and happier on Facebook it doesn’t matter either way. I just thought about it now., and it would be lovely to have you back here. You are missed you know… warmest of hugs to you and Ruby Tuesday.. from me, and her who is near silent but always in my heart… (just as you and Tango are )

  18. Hi Pen thanks for feedback, I don’t quite understand what you mean about comments, they show up, also my reply shows. You’ll have to go through things in more depth.
Right now I’m trying to catch up with the rather neglected garden, and there never seems to be enough time. I didn’t go much on Fb when I first tried it, but I do find it useful to keep up with dog friends and what’s going on in the dog world, it’s quick and easy, and always someone to respond to conversations no matter how brief (and inane) but if I’m honest I prefer blogging. Maybe if. I give it some time, though I’m curious to know what my WP blog problem is ? I do think of you often and empathise with you, hope to hear from you soon. XX

    • ’tis when you comment on someone else’s site. Arlene, the comment is usually answered by someone ‘clicking’ on ‘Arlene’ to visit your site…for some reason, the link doesn’t take you back to Arlene and Tango’s blog… It diverts to a different page… Try doing so next time you leave a comment on WordPress…🙂 … Hope that explains what I meant in better detail…
Hugs and woofs aplenty to you and Ruby Tuesday…. xPenx

    • I’ll try that Pen, thanks, as yet I haven’t had time, a lot of paperwork seems to have appeared and needs attention, one of my pet hates. I have to re-apply for a driving license, and have lost my old one, I had some problems with a Financial Advisor, and have an offer to try and get something done about it, more work. Got painting and gardening looking for attention, so I switched off and decided to bake! I’m the world’s biggest procrastinator🙂
