The
metal
bin sits,
’til I stand on it’s toe,
it opens it’s mouth
as if saying hello,
I throw in a tissue
or cotton wool pad,
I wonder, does it feel,
does it ever get mad?
I now need to empty
it’s full belly you see,
so I don’t want it
planning
how
it could
possibly
eat me.

I have this… mad (?) idea, that inanimate objects can have feelings, so I usually name them, sounds strange I know, and ‘tis ever so sad when one wears out and needs to be replaced… many tears are shed I can tell you… x
Cute quick little Poem I hear him groaning sometimes, but then a big sigh as if to say that’s a load off my mind or should I say Belly.
Hugs Sheila xx:)

I felt like a change in mood Sheila, and my little pedal bin in the bathroom needed emptying yesterday, as I did, the lid closed on my fingers, hence the poem was born in my mind… He’s a sweetie, always there, and it’s so handy to just stand on his ‘toe’ … I’ve never heard him groan though, I shall have to listen out next time.. 😉 Hugs aplenty…xPenx

I’m a bit different that way … hate the thought of falling in love with something/ one … attachment means entrapment means not being free … strange thoughts, I know … woofs and purrs and hugs for you, my lovely friend P … c.

ahh Cat, I can’t help myself, the attachments grow with daily use… but I can understand your reasoning, makes for hurting later on, be it people/pets or appliances, … and ’tis not strange at all, … woofs, purrs and hugs aplenty sweet friend c…. P xxx

You’re a caring soul, LadyP, and I’m sure the Bin will be kind and allow the emptying without incident. As Sheila says, a cute poem, brought a smile my way this Morning. x

You are a friend indeed, MikeR, to understand my reasoning… (or madness) … and the Bin did behave itself, all fingers are intact… Good to share smiles, ‘cos it makes my day… have a wonderful weekend… xx

OOooo, don’t get me started John, things change for the worse, in the shadowy darkness of twilight, where imagination is let loose, and wild thoughts take flight, where nothing is familiar, your surroundings are rearranged, seems anything can harm you, as your thoughts become deranged.. 🙂 xx

Then you switch on the light (whew)

if you’re quick enough…before THEY get you!! I can feel the thrill of terror as the switch is reached and the light suddenly dispels all doubts.. or shows the culprit … even more terrifying.. if the Bin was actually hostile 😉 Imagination is such a terrible but entertaining thing. x

Glad you enjoyed the read, Phil, and I think it could, eat me I mean, but only bit by bit, starting toes wise… ‘cos if the toes were eaten I couldn’t stand, and then… erm… I’d be on all fours … so mayhap at a pinch if I was overcome by a natural attack of the vapours, (well, you would wouldn’t you?) the evil Bin could overcome any resistance I’d have… terrible thing, imagination, . 🙂 .. Wishing you and yours a great weekend too, ’tis pouring down here, hence the chance to catch up comment wise… xPenx

Mine’s plastic [the one in the bathroom] and over thirty years old that once belonged to friends of mine long ago divorced. I think of them every time I replace the plastic bag I put inside the thing. Oddly,…there is…..something personal……about my…..relationship…….with that bin that transcends its origins and seems to be a cut above other similar possessions…..Odd how we tend toward belief in the lasting loyalty of plastic, but doubts plague most thoughts about humanity…..

Glad it’s not just me then John, and as you so rightly say, it seems odd, but we do get personally involved by placing items in their mouths, and then almost ritualistically have to empty their bellies. Blimey, this is getting very deep, introspective wise, mayhap I need a psychiatrist to explain my interest with my Metal Bin, … Nah!! I’m sure I’m a well balanced, sane-ish person, who functions quite well naming inanimate objects,… *cough* xx

Bins are like pythons. They lie in wait, motionless for days, then strike. They crush the life out of your fingers, dislocate their jaws and slowly swallow you whole. Never seen a bin bag with a bulge in it? Now you know why.

I think inanimate objects do have feelings, Lady P, and some have ulterior motives and vendettas as well… like the banister by the stairs at work – it always lashes out with a burst of electricity if ever you are near it. It does it deliberately, I tell you!

ah, ’tis proof indeed Sir Aquatom, that banister has an ulterior motive I betcha… I’ve always thought that objects have feelings, which is why I name them, for you can’t just call them ‘it’ now can you? xx
