Pointless,
how I dislike that word
it makes a mockery of hope.
It gives the impression ‘better not start’,
sets you depressed on the slippery slope.
Meaningful,
now this is encouraging,
speaks of a sense in what you do
raising your spirits to their fullest extent,
creating a desirable goal for you.

Glad there is no such thing as Pointless Meaningfulness or Meaningful Pointlessness … but then again … here I am … pulling calves in -30C … makes me wonder, why am I doing this year after year for well over 20 years of living in this country … and that’s just how I feel right now … double woofs, little earth quake purrrs and tiny whistles, love you, Lady Pen … cat.

Oh yes, meaningful is a MUCH better word. 🙂

I thought so too Robin, mayhap ‘pointless’ can be used as a ‘pointer’ say, where we need to realise we’ve done enough and it’s pointless to continue, but meaningful makes more of a ‘plus’ in my book. (dictionary 😉 ) xx

Definitely a meaningful poem, Pen. Pointless is indeed pointless.

thanks Andrew, I thought so, but I suppose every word has it’s day sort of thing, when it’s meaning is useful. 😉 xx

Words by themselves don’t mean much unless we give life to them, I reckon.

Oh yes! Pointless is a horrible word, full of miserably negative connotations! Meaningful…now what a loaded word! Far more pleasing as you say and full of hope 🙂

Oh now pointless’ feeling are hurt and dejected by being so rejected.
From its p to its last s, it has an innate sense of meaning something beyond nothing. which is darn close to zero.

now I’m feeling sorry for pointlessly knocking pointless from it’s perch, Eva, darn it!! 🙂 xx

The depth of words and how they actually effect us is something that seldom is considered but it should be… the Devil is in the details and never more is this true than the evil or good tat comes out of me or you! Excellent thing to think about Lady P!
