I turned left, walked on
then turned left again,
not sure of my bearings
whilst dodging fine rain.
I stopped at a corner,
looking left then right
as the rain became heavy,
almost blocking my sight.
Still I could see, I hadn’t reached
the right place. Turning back,
I was left with my steps

Tawny Owl was
feeling ever so weary,
sitting under a moon
shining whitely down.
He sighed, then blinked
twice to see clearly,
staring down with a frown.
The large gathering sat before
him, were all restless, making such
a loud din, taking no notice of his wise
decision, so gaining their attention was up to
him. He swooped quickly, picking up a
youngster, who squealed loudly and wriggled
in his hold, Owl dropped him on a grass mound
safely, hooted once and said ‘Do as you’re told’
They all grew quiet, then patiently waited
for Tawny Owl to continue with his say.
all they heard was a loud snoring sound…
Poor Tawny Owl has had such a tiring day…

Walking down the street one day,
so fast, could speed spirit me away
from troubled thoughts left far behind?
tho’ some are constant in your mind,
no way to outrun or to flee
they’re in your head,
Suddenly a voice said “Hey hello”
I turned and instantly wanted to go
’twas a distant friend not seen for a while.
Instead I stopped and gave a smile
saying “How are you, how’ve you been?”
then he told me all that’d happened to him.
As he talked, listing his troubles and woes
I felt shame wash from my head to my toes
so much pain,… yet he sought no pity,
his words were succinct, even witty.
As he said “Goodbye, thanks for
being a good friend”
I promised myself
self pity, self absorption

Let me tell you a story of a room with no view,
the windows are boarded, it’s door is locked too
no way can you enter this dark scary place,
as a man so alone wants to see no-ones face. For many long years he’s lived locked inside
this room with no view, this place he can hide
deathless, seemingly immortal, he waits in vain
for his one true love, and it’s driven him insaneShe left him heartbroken, no backward glance
She left him without pity, no second chance
Little did she know, he knew where she’d gone
now he wants vengeance as her only child lives on
This child has grown, now a young lady of means
she bought the ‘empty’ house , totally unseen
She was excitedly viewing it from top to bottom
BUT one door was locked, a lost key forgottenHe waited for his chance to catch her alone
some friend had been there, now they’d gone,
As he heard her footsteps outside his room,
he whispered silently, “You’ll be with me soon”I know nothing more of this unhappy tale
but the neglected house is again up ‘For sale’
Mayhap the Dark Room is still locked away
but could there be two who inhabit it today?
