Goblin Thoughts….

Goblin

There’s a Goblin in my wardrobe
I can picture him in my mind
he threatens to come out at night
when I’m asleep, he’s very unkind.
Because it makes me feel afraid
about the dark and what is there
I must try and trick this Goblin
perhaps under the handle place a chair?

I’m sure this’d make him angry
and therefore think quite fast
on how he could get out before
I was quick enough in my set task.
Now, I know he cannot leave the dark
and the area where he’s hidden
so with chair in place quite safely
he’ll stay there until he’s bidden

and that will never, ever happen!!

    • Hi there Ian, I’m pleased you enjoyed my tale of the goblin and his terrible doings in my wardrobe, I don’t know, you’d have thought they’d come up with a deterrent somehow. Wasn’t there a Goblin Vacuum cleaner? 😉 ‘twould be very handy methinks…xx

  5. Not your children’s bedtime tale, for sure. I guess that’s why night lights were invented – although the goblin vacuum is far more inventive, Pen. I so look forward to your stories and poems, and the pictures are an added gift! Thank you!

    • OH no I agree, Monica, but saying that, it was a thought I had as a child, so maybe we’re little monsters in the making? 😉 … I’m just pleased you enjoyed my poem and memory from my past as a little monster myself. (I don’t think I’ve grown out of it though) xx

  7. Oh Goblins! Got what he deserved, being locked out in the dark like that. I love your imaginative mind! I have a liking for fantasy, though I can never write much fantasy.

  9. I hate things that wake me in the night..more than most things, I hate it. Once my oldest son happened to be staying over night..and when I saw him thru my open doorway (I left it open so the cat could get in and out..) it scared the hair off my head for a moment. Took awhile to go back to sleep. 🙂

    How’s your Bess?

    • I’m the same Carole, anything unexpected and I jump sky high, there are so many fingernail marks in the ceiling it looks like a pattern. 😉 and Bess is toddling on, but eating is becoming a game of hit and miss. One day she’s eat something and next she’ll be disinterested, but we’re taking each day at a time… hugs to you and Miss Catt.. xx

  10. G’day love.
How are you doing? I hope you’re doing pretty good!
My parents used to have wardrobe that had deep dark grains in it
and I was shit scared because the patterns of the grain looked like evil faces,
their room always seemed dark and this made it even more scary.
I’ll actually never forget just how scary that room always seemed to me.
Not very nice memories I’m afraid.

On a much brighter note…. Happy Easter Pen!
I hope you’re getting all the chocolate your heart desires !

  11. Scary old Goblin! I would run or hide and run as soon as possible for I too know he would never stay in wardrobe with that chair under the door knob holding him in place. I would run and run fast indeed!!! Goblins are soooooo mean and scary.

Ever since we were young, some of us believed that our bedroom closets were filled with nasty gremlins and monsters. At least I did. In fact, I wouldn’t dare go to sleep unless the door was closed tight. I never thought of putting a chair under the handle to make their escape impossible. Uuugh! That trick would have certainly set my mind at peace.
Great tale… made me smile throughout reading it.
